Seabury Books, an imprint of Church Publishing Incorporated, is pleased to announce the publication of the Prayer Book Studies series, edited by biblical scholar Derek Olsen.

This landmark series—composed of foundational documents that guided the creation of the 1979 American Book of Common Prayer—is once again available, now in nine volumes for inclusion in your library. Prayer Book Studies is a series of official reports by the Church’s Standing Liturgical Commission that were published over the course of four decades, representing the work of the committees deliberating over and drafting the materials that would eventually become the most recent Book of Common Prayer.

This reissue ensures their preservation and accessibility for a new generation of readers. It also provides an extraordinary window into the work of leading liturgical scholars during an age characterized by huge transformation in the field of liturgy and context necessary for understanding and discerning liturgical revision.

Derek Olsen is a biblical scholar and engaged layman in The Episcopal Church. He earned an MDiv from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, an STM from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and a PhD in New Testament in 2011 from Emory University. He lives in Baltimore, MD.
