Peggy Cromwell named director of The School for Christian Studies
Bishop of Arkansas John T. W. Harmon sent the following message to the diocese announcing that the Rev. Peggy Cromwell joins the diocesan staff as director of The School for Christian Studies:
The Reverend Peggy Cromwell, a native Arkansan, is a graduate, and longtime advocate, of the Iona Initiative in Arkansas. She served as one of the associate deans of the Iona program this year. In 2016, she was ordained deacon and began serving at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Conway, AR. After discerning a call to the priesthood, Peggy was ordained priest in 2019, continuing to serve at St. Peter’s as an associate. In 2022, she was named Vicar of St Nicholas’ Episcopal Church, Maumelle, AR, her home church. Most recently, Peggy has fostered a shared space agreement with the First United Methodist Church in Maumelle in cooperation with their pastor, The Rev Justin Ledbetter. They like to call it a growing “Beloved Community.”
On the diocesan level, Peggy has served on the Commission on Ministry, the Executive Council, and the Standing Committee. Prior to her work in ministry, Peggy was a public-school teacher, holding a BSE in history from the University of Central Arkansas and an MSE in curriculum and instruction from Henderson State University. Peggy lives in Maumelle with her spouse, Liz Adams. They enjoy traveling, good food, and being with friends. ‘Grace Abundant,’ a tortie rescue cat, and ‘Edgar Allan Pooch,’ a stately Pekingese, keep them laughing and in good company. Peggy is particularly proud to be a great aunt of Scarlett, Bennett, and Sabrina; grandmother of Luna and Autumn; and one of the godmothers of Charlotte.
Peggy+ joins the Diocesan Staff as the Director of The School for Christian Studies; one of the four established diocesan priorities. We very much look forward to her presence on the Diocesan staff and ask your prayers and support for her as she begins this new ministry among us.
With every blessing, I am,
Faithfully in Christ,
The Right Reverend John T.W. Harmon | Bishop of Arkansas
